WATCH: Wes Washpun buzzer-beater sends Northern Iowa to NCAA Tournament

Northern Iowa is going to its second consecutive NCAA Tournament thanks to senior guard Wes Washpun’s buzzer-beater Sunday in the team’s 56-54 MVC title victory against Evansville.

After upsetting nationally ranked North Carolina and Iowa State in non-conference play, Northern Iowa started 2-6 in the MVC. Since then, the Panthers have won 12 of their last 13 games, with the only defeat coming by three points on the road against Loyola.

Although they have some bad losses, the Panthers could be eyeing a No. 11 seed thanks to those impressive non-conference victories plus two wins against Wichita State in conference play.
