WATCH: UNI upsets Texas on half-court buzzer-beater

Northern Iowa advanced to the NCAA Tournament Second Round thanks to senior Paul Jesperson’s heroics Friday night. After Texas guard Isaiah Taylor tied the score with 2.7 seconds left, Jesperson banked in a half-court shot to give Northern Iowa a 75-72 victory.

And here’s the shot from a behind-the-basket angle.

And one more angle from the stands near center-court:

Finally, here is the call from UNI’s radio voice, Gary Rima.

After the Panthers left the court, alum and former NFL quarterback Kurt Warner was there to greet them and celebrate.

The Panthers will face No. 3 seed Texas A&M on Sunday.

Wichita State, the MVC’s other representative, will also play in the second round Saturday against third-seeded Miami (Florida). The Valley is the only undefeated multi-bid conference in this year’s NCAA Tournament with a 3-0 record.
