It’s not much, but Valparaiso¬†is still making some national waves even after the departure of coach Bryce Drew. The Crusaders received two points in the preseason USA Today Top 25 Coaches Poll, released Thursday, placing them tied for No. 53 overall in college basketball to start the year.

Valparaiso went 30-7 last season with a 16-2 Horizon League record. However, the Crusaders narrowly missed the NCAA Tournament after falling to Green Bay in the conference tournament semifinals.

Valparaiso opens the 2016-17 season under first-year coach Matt Lottich on Nov. 11 against Southern Utah.
