UIC lit up by Western Illinois in 84-57 defeat

UIC fell to 0-2 Tuesday with an 84-57 loss at Western Illinois (3-0). The Flames were no match for the Leathernecks, who shot 48.4 percent from the field.

Four Western Illinois players scored in double figures, led by senior guard J.C. Fuller. Fuller had 19 points along with 9 rebounds.

Junior guard Jabari Sandifer also had a strong all-around game with 16 points, seven assists and four steals.

Sophomore center Tai Odiase paced UIC with 16 points, eight rebounds and two blocks.

Forward Dikembe Dixson, the reigning Horizon League Freshman of the Week, had 11 points but shot 3-of-13 from the field with four turnovers.

UIC is now 5-21 in non-conference games against Division I opponents over the last three seasons, although this is the first year under coach Steve McClain. The Flames return home next Tuesday to face Roosevelt.
