Top 25 Rankings for the Week of December 30

1. Arizona (13-0). Last week: 1

Arizona keeps its No. 1 spot after beating Northern Arizona last week. The Wildcats begin Pac-12 play at home against Washington State on Thursday and Washington on Saturday.


2. Ohio State (13-0). Last week: 2

Ohio State finished non-conference play with a perfect record with its win against Louisiana-Monroe on Friday. The Buckeyes play their first Big Ten game at Purdue on Tuesday.


3. Syracuse (12-0). Last week: 3

Syracuse picked up another quality win, handing Villanova its first loss of the season Saturday. The Orange host Eastern Michigan on Tuesday and then face Miami (FL) in their first ACC game Saturday.


4. Wisconsin (13-0). Last week: 4

Wisconsin finished non-conference play undefeated with an easy win against Prairie View A&M over the weekend. The Badgers open Big Ten play at Northwestern on Thursday night.


5. Michigan State (11-1). Last week: 5

Michigan State defeated New Orleans for its fourth straight win. The Spartans travel to Penn State on New Year’s Eve for their first Big Ten matchup.


6. Oklahoma State (11-1). Last week: 6

Oklahoma State wraps up non-conference play tonight against Robert Morris, and then it plays at Kansas State in its first Big 12 game Saturday.


7. Wichita State (13-0). Last week: 8

Wichita State held off Davidson on Sunday to remain unbeaten entering Missouri Valley play this week.


8. Iowa State (11-0). Last week: 9

Iowa State won the Diamond Head Classic, beating George Mason, Akron, and Boise State. The Cyclones wrap up non-conference play against Northern Illinois this week.


9. Louisville (11-2). Last week: 7

Louisville’s six-game winning streak ended with a loss at Kentucky on Saturday. The Cardinals transition into conference play this week, opening the American Athletic Conference at Central Florida on New Year’s Even.


10. Duke (10-2). Last week: 10

Duke defeating Eastern Michigan over the weekend for its fourth straight win. After facing Elon on Tuesday, the Blue Devils play at Notre Dame in their first ACC game of the year.


11. Baylor (10-1). Last week: 11

Baylor looks to extend its winning streak to five games tonight against Oral Roberts.


12. Florida (10-2). Last week: 12

Florida had no trouble with Savannah State on Sunday, defeating the Tigers 76-34. The Gators continue their homestand against Richmond on Saturday.


13. Oregon (12-0). Last week: 13

Oregon disposed of Morgan State on Sunday for its 12th straight win to begin the season. The Ducks begin Pac-12 play at Utah and at Colorado this weekend.


14. Kentucky (10-3). Last week: 18

Kentucky ended non-conference play on a high note, defeating Louisville on Saturday for their first win against the Top 25.


15. Villanova (11-1). Last week: 14

Villanova’s perfect season came to a close at Syracuse on Saturday, and the Wildcats have another tough matchup at Butler on Tuesday to begin Big East play.


16. Connecticut (11-1). Last week: 15

Connecticut blew past Eastern Washington in the second half of Saturday’s game for its second straight win. The Huskies travel to Houston for the start of AAC play on Tuesday.


17. Kansas (8-3). Last week: 16

Kansas had the week off, but it has a tough game tonight against an undefeated Toledo team.


18. Colorado (11-2). Last week: 17

Colorado bounced back from a loss to Oklahoma State with a win against Georgia. The Buffaloes host Oregon State and Oregon this week to begin Pac-12 competition.


19. Massachusetts (11-1). Last week: 19

After losing to Florida State last weekend, Massachusetts needed overtime to get by Providence on Saturday. The Minutemen finish non-conference play against Miami (OH) this weekend.


20. Memphis (9-2). Last week: 20

In its only game last week, Memphis defeated Jackson State. Conference play begins for the Tigers on Tuesday, when they face South Florida.


21. Iowa (11-2). Last week: 21

After nine days off, Iowa returns to action for its Big Ten opener against Nebraska on Tuesday night.


22. North Carolina (9-3). Last week: 22

North Carolina pulled away from Northern Kentucky in the second half Friday for a 15-point win. The Tar Heels wrap up non-conference play against UNC-Wilmington on New Year’s Eve.


23. San Diego State (10-1). Last week: 23

San Diego State had an easy week with its only game against non-Division I St. Katherine. The Aztecs open up Mountain West play at Colorado State on Wednesday.


24. Michigan (8-4). Last week: 24

Michigan defeated Holy Cross on Saturday for its third win in its last three games. The Wolverines open Big Ten play at Minnesota on Thursday.


25. Illinois (11-2). Last week: 25

Illinois survived UIC’s upset bid on Saturday for its fourth win in its last five games. The Illini return home for the first time since Dec. 10 for Indiana on New Year’s Eve.
