The most anticipated game on Northern Iowa’s non-conference schedule will now be televised to a national audience. NBC Sports Network released its schedule of 45 college basketball games that will air during the 2014-15 season, including a matchup between Northern Iowa and Virginia Commonwealth on Dec. 13.
Northern Iowa will be one of the country’s premier mid-major teams this season. The Panthers might be the only squad in the MVC with enough talent to challenge Wichita State atop the league. They return their six best players from last season while adding an impact transfer in former Virginia guard Paul Jesperson.
VCU is this year’s favorite to win the Atlantic 10 and should be a preseason Top 25 team. The Rams are led by talented wing Treveon Graham and defensive menace Briante Weber.
