As the automatic qualifier from the WAC, New Mexico State earned a No. 13 in the 2014 NCAA Tournament. The Aggies will face No. 4 seed San Diego State in the West Region. This marks the Aggies’ third straight season with a NCAA Tournament appearance, and their fourth appearance in the last five.

New Mexico State should be a trendy upset pick as college basketball fans and analysts fill out their March Madness brackets. The Aggies have size, athleticism, depth and postseason experience — four key ingredients to knocking off a higher seed. Plus, San Diego State is a vulnerable team. While the Aztecs are amazing defensively, they often struggle on the offensive end.

New Mexico State and San Diego State will tip off 9:57 ET on Thursday night.
