Despite losing to Wichita State on Wednesday, Loyola is still barely in contention for the No. 6 seed at the MVC Tournament, which would give the Ramblers a bye to the quarterfinals.
At 7-9 in conference play, Loyola is tied for Indiana State for the No. 7 seed and one game behind Missouri State for the No. 6 seed. In any tiebreaker situations, Loyola would definitely be behind Indiana State and likely be ahead of Missouri State because of RPI rankings.
To finish the regular season, Loyola plays at Drake, Missouri State travels to Southern Illinois and Indiana State hosts Bradley. If Loyola loses to Drake, it will be the No. 8 seed regardless of the other two results.
If Loyola wins and one of Missouri State and Indiana State lose, the Ramblers earn the No. 7 seed. The only way for Loyola to climb up to the No. 6 seed is if it wins and both Missouri State and Indiana State lose.
“We want to beat Drake, and we need a little bit of help,” coach Porter Moser said. “The six seed is still a very viable option.”
