Loyola tabbed seventh in MVC preseason poll

Loyola was selected to finish seventh in the MVC the by a preseason poll of coaches, sports information directors and media. The poll was released Tuesday at the league’s media day in St. Louis.

The Ramblers return their core of senior Milton Doyle and juniors Ben Richardson and Donte Ingram. They also add one of the conference’s top recruiting classes. Here at The Catch and Shoot, we picked Loyola to finish fifth.

In the official poll, Wichita State was picked to win its fourth straight MVC title. The Shockers received 37 out of 42 first-place votes, with Illinois State receiving four and Northern Iowa taking one. The Redbirds narrowly edged the Panthers to take preseason second place honors.

Missouri State was selected fourth, marking the biggest jump of any team from their final standing last season. The Bears went 8-10 in the MVC last season, tying for sixth place and earning No. 7 seed at Arch Madness.
