Loyola freshman Matt Chastain will miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL, a source told The Catch and Shoot on Thursday. Coach Porter Moser confirmed the news on Twitter.
Chastain, a 6’6″ wing all-state product out of LeRoy High School, was averaging 3.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 0.7 blocks through three games.
“Thoughts and [prayers] go out to our frosh Matt Chastain who has suffered a season ending ACL tear,” Moser tweeted Thursday morning. “Very tough kid who will come back stronger.”

With the season only three games deep, Chastain will be eligible for a medical redshirt so that he can keep four full years of eligibility starting in 2017-18.
Loyola (3-0) travels to the Virgin Islands this weekend for the 2016 Paradise Jam. The Ramblers take on St. Joseph’s on Friday in the first round.
