Loyola improved to 2-0 Monday night with a 78-68 victory against Division II McKendree.

The Ramblers torched the Bearcats with 60% field-goal shooting. Although they were out-rebounded 28-23, the Ramblers dominated inside scoring with 48 points in the paint to the Bearcats’ 32. Loyola also turned 23 McKendree turnovers into 35 points.

Senior Christian Thomas and sophomore Milton Doyle each posted 21 points as the game’s top scorers. Thomas shot 8-for-11 from the field and made all five of his free throws.

Doyle had his way from the field with 10-for-12 shooting. He also dished out eight assists but turned over the ball five times. Through two games, Doyle is averaging 17.0 points, 6.5 assists and 3.0 steals.

The Ramblers will face their first Division I opponent of the season Friday when they play at No. 19/18 Michigan State. The Spartans won their opener against Navy, 64-59, and they face a major test Tuesday against No. 4 Duke at the Champions Classic.
