Jay Harris named Horizon League Player of the Week

Following a career-high 32 points in last week’s win against UCF, UIC senior guard Jay Harris earned Horizon League Player of the Week honors. He shot 9-for-16 from the field and 10-for-12 from the foul line. He also made four 3-pointers.

Harris’ 32 points were the most by a Horizon League player this year. The last time a UIC player scored 32 points or more at home was December 2007, when two-time All-Horizon League guard Josh Mayo posted 32 points against Green Bay.

Meanwhile, Wright State guard Grant Benzinger won Freshman of the Week with a pair of 11-point performances against Belmont and Miami (OH). In each game, Benzinger shot 8-for-8 from the field and 6-for-6 from beyond the arc in the two games.
