The charges relate to when an iPhone and wallet were reported at a campus event in September. According to police, investigators learned the phone’s location when it was recently reactivated.

Clayton was charged of concealing another person’s property valued at $500 or less. He was also charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor. Yarbrough was also charged with theft. He admitted he had received the phone from Clayton and knew it was stolen.

Both players were released on bond and are scheduled to appear back in court Nov. 1.

Redbirds coach Dan Muller told WJBC News he is aware of the situation and will handle the incident internally.

This news comes two days after Illinois State senior forward Deontae Hawkins was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of alcohol, and driving with a suspended license. Hawkins is suspended indefinitely.

Clayton, a 6’6″ guard, is a JUCO transfer from Palm Beach State College, where he averaged 13.2 points per game last season. Yarbrough, a 6’6″ forward, transferred from St. Louis, where he averaged 7.7 points and 4.6 rebounds last year. He is ineligible until the 2017-18 season in accordance with NCAA transfer rules.
