DePaul will host Northwestern next season in start of five-year series

DePaul and Northwestern agreed to a five-year series last spring, and the Blue Demons confirmed a CBS report Tuesday that they will host the first game of the series Dec. 19, 2015.

Northwestern has the potential for some upward movement in the Big Ten next season with five starters returning.

DePaul will also have an experienced group with three starters returning and several bench players returning. The Blue Demons went through a coaching change last month with Dave Leitao replacing Oliver Purnell.

This will the first meeting between DePaul and Northwestern since December 2013, when Blue Demons guard Billy Garrett Jr.‘s buzzer-beater upended the Wildcats at Welsh-Ryan Arena.

DePaul went 12-20 last season finishing No. 7 in the Big East. Northwestern posted a 15-17 record with a 10th-place finish in the Big Ten.
