With 18 points Saturday, Evansville guard D.J. Balentine set a new program scoring record with 2,280 career points, surpassing former teammate Colt Ryan.
“There’s no words I can really use to describe this feeling,” Balentine said after the game. “Just to be able to do it here in front of the home crowd and my teammates be able to embrace me like that, it’s just an amazing feeling and I’m so grateful for it.
Balentine drained a 3-pointer with 2:49 remaining Saturday against Missouri State to set the new record. After being subbed to the bench, Balentine received an ovation from fans and teammates, as well as the game ball from his record-setting shot.
The Aces won 83-64 and improved to 8-4 in the Missouri Valley.
