Aundre Jackson earns MVC Sixth Man of the Year, All-Newcomer Team selection

Loyola junior Aundre Jackson has been named MVC Sixth Man of the Year and given a spot on the All-Newcomer Team, the conference announced Tuesday.

Jackson, a transfer from McLennan Community College in Texas, averaged 14.5 points and 4.2 rebounds in 24.3 minutes per game this season. His 67.7 field goal percentage led the MVC and ranks 5th nationally.

The 6’5″ forward struggled in his first three MVC games but bounced back to score in double figures in 13 of Loyola’s final 15 regular season games. He set Loyola’s single-game record for field goal percentage with 21 points on 9-of-9 shooting in a non-conference win over Milwaukee.

Joining Jackson on the All-Newcomer Team are Illinois State’s Phil Fayne, Missouri State’s Alize Johnson, and Wichita State’s Landry Shamet and Darral Willis Jr. He lost out on Newcomer of the Year to Johnson.

For Loyola, Milton Doyle received an All-MVC First Team nod while Donte Ingram was named to the third team.
