Wisconsin transfer George Marshall, a redshirt sophomore, left the Badger program earlier this week and will transfer, according to a tweet from Jeff Goodman.

Marshall averaged 4.1 points for the Badgers last season in 15.8 minutes per game, and he shot 36.8% on three-pointers. This season, he has played in only two games after suffering a concussion in November.

Out of high school, Marshall was ranked the No. 20 recruit in Illinois by ESPN.com and given a two-star rating.

Scout.com ranked him as a three-star recruit and the No. 34 point guard in the Class of 2011.

Aside from Wisconsin, Marshall received offers from other high-profile schools such as Baylor and Xavier.

UIC will be one of the frontrunners for Marshall, as head coach Howard Moore recruited Marshall to the Badgers when Moore was an assistant under Wisconsin head coach Bo Ryan. Marshall is also a Chicago native, coming out of Brooks College Prep.

If Marshall makes his decision and commits somewhere before the start of the spring semester, he should become eligible midway through the 2014-15 season.
