You have have to go back only a few days for No. 7.

Fresh of three straight losses, the last of which was a heartbreaking defeat in overtime to local rival Northwestern, DePaul was a sizable underdog Dec. 22 at home to No. 20 George Washington. The teams met in Washington D.C. last season, where George Washington cruised to an 81-68 win.

The opposite was the story this time around.

DePaul dominated from the opening tip, opening the game on a 10-0 run. The Blue Demons shot the lights out both inside and outside the arc and shut down the Colonials offense on their way to a surprisingly easy, 82-61 victory.

Point guard Billy Garrett Jr. tore up George Washington for 20 points and seven assists. Fellow guards Aaron Simpson (15 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists) and Eli Cain (16 points, 5 rebounds) had arguably their best games of the season.

Forward Myke Henry added 11 points, nine rebounds and this spectacular, and-one dunk over 6-foot-9 Tyler Cavanaugh.

The win was DePaul’s first at home against a ranked team since it beat No. 17 Villanova in 2008.
