Trying to finish off a thrilling run to its first postseason title in decades, Loyola needed a small second-half comeback in Game 1 of the best-of-three CBI finals against Louisiana-Monroe. Trailing 33-31 early in the second half, the Ramblers tied the score with a layup from forward Montel James.

On the next possession, James corralled a baseline inbounds pass in the right corner and drove to the hoop. He finished with a ferocious, one-handed dunk over 6-foot-9 Jamaal Samuel, who also fouled James in the process.

The slam electrified Gentile Arena as James went certifiably nuts in a celebration that took him beyond the 3-point line.

James converted the free throw to give Loyola a 36-33 lead. The Ramblers led the rest of the way in a 65-58 victory.
