The list of MVC transfers continues to grow as Southern Illinois announced Tuesday junior guard Jalen Pendleton will leave the program and transfer.
Pendleton averaged 6.6 points and 1.6 assists per game. After starting during non-conference play, he was moved to the bench for MVC games.
“Jalen has been an instrumental part of the rebuilding process during the past three years and we appreciate his contributions,” coach Barry Hinson said in a release. “We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”
Pendleton looked like a promising player as a sophomore, averaging 9.1 points per game earning recognition on the MVC’s All-Bench team as Southern Illinois’ sixth man.
Even with the loss of Pendleton, the Salukis return their top three scorers, as well as every other player who received significant playing time from a team that finished 12-21 and 4-14 in the Valley.
Southern Illinois is already set to add quality junior college transfer Mike Rodriguez, a 5-foot-10 point guard. Hinson now has two open scholarships remaining.
