Former St. Rita guard Dominique Matthews committed to UIC on Thursday following a visit. The three-star guard spent last year at Victory Rock Prep in Florida, and he is the brother of Kentucky commit and top-100 recruit Charles Matthews.
Matthews brings some instant offense to UIC.
The 6-foot-2 guard is known for his scoring, and that is something the Flames need next season. The team loses leading scorer Jay Harris, as well as starters Ahman Fells and Marc Brown, a 1,000-point career scorer.
Matthews joins four others in new head coach Steve McClain‘s first recruiting class. Bolingbrook forward Julian Torres gave his commitment last week, and Texas duo Hassan Thomas and Michael Kolawole signed on the first day of the spring period.
Guard Drew Hackett, who signed his letter of intent under former coach Howard Moore during the early signing period, rounds out the class.
UIC has one open scholarship remaining.
