Northwestern junior JerShon Cobb, the Wildcats’ second-leading scorer, missed the last two games against Mississippi Valley State and Brown with an ankle injury, but Northwestern head coach Chris Collins is optimistic that Cobb will see the court Friday night against DePaul.
“I think he’s on track, I’m optimistic he’ll be available tomorrow night,” Collins said. “As long as there’s no setbacks, I’m hoping he’ll get some minutes.”
Cobb is averaging 13.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.8 assists for Northwestern this season. At the end of November, the Georgia native had a pair of 22-point outings against Missouri and UCLA to set a new career-high for non-conference play.
“[JerShon] is just one of those guys who’s able to score, he plays great defense, and he does everything,” leading scorer Drew Crawford said. “We just feel a little more comfortable with him on the court.”
Opening tip between the Wildcats and the Blue Demons is set for 8 p.m. CT at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
