Newsday‘s Ari Kramer and I are back with our NCAA Tournament picks. We talked everything from who’s going to make the Final Four to which lower seeds have the best chance of making the second weekend. We also gave our predictions for Northwestern and Wichita State.
Listen here:
0:40 — Ari likes Duke to win it all, so that got us talking about everything in the East Region.
2:05 — I like Kansas to win it all, so that got us talking about everything in the Midwest Region.
5:45 — Maybe more people should be picking Louisville for a Final Four run?
7:15 — We both like Rhode Island to upset Creighton.
9:10 — Moving on to the South Region, where we think the bottom half of the bracket is stacked, but North Carolina got an easy draw in the top half.
13:09 — Can the winner of Wichita State-Dayton make a legitimate run?
19:10 — On to the West Region, where we wish we could pick Gonzaga, but neither of us did.
24:50 — It’s time to talk No. 8 seed Northwestern’s first-ever NCAA Tournament game, facing No. 9 Vanderbilt in Salt Lake City on Thursday.
29:47 — A lot of people are picking Middle Tennessee over Minnesota. But Ari also has No. 13 seed Winthrop over No. 4 Butler. (But the Blue Raiders could still be the team with the most Cinderella potential this year.)
33:25 — I think UNC Wilmington also has Sweet 16 potential out in the East Region.
35:43 — How about some parallels between this year’s Duke-Troy matchup and last year’s Michigan State-Middle Tennessee game?
36:35 — Apparently the committee still hates the American Athletic Conference.
