1. Wichita State (4-0). Last week: 1
Wichita State continues its domination after beating Tulsa by 20 points Saturday. The Shockers play their first true road game of the season Wednesday at Utah.
2. Gonzaga (6-0). Last week: 2
Gonzaga had another impressive week, this time at the NIT Season Tip-Off. The Bulldogs defeated Georgia and St. John’s to win the tournament. They play their toughest non-conference game this week at Arizona.
3. Northern Iowa (7-0). Last week: 3
Northern Iowa defeated Virginia Tech and Northwestern to win the Cancun Challenge. The Panthers followed that with another solid win against Richmond.
4. Harvard (4-1). Last week: 4
Harvard blew out Houston and then survived a close game with UMass last week. The Crimson face Northeastern, one of the CAA favorites, Wednesday.
5. BYU (5-2). Last week: 5
BYU finished sixth at the Maui Invitational with a pair of tough losses in overtime to San Diego State and Purdue. No shame in that.
6. Saint Mary’s (5-0). Last week: 8
Of the five wins, Saint Mary’s has a double-digit margin of victory in four of them. The Gaels wrap up a season-opening, six-game home stand Saturday against Boise State.
7. UTEP (4-1). Last week: 9
UTEP continued its strong start with a second-place finish at the Wooden Legacy. The Miners beat Princeton and Xavier but lost to Washington by three points in the final.

8. Old Dominion (5-1). Last week: Unranked
Old Dominion knocked off VCU on Saturday, and the Monarchs also have a win against LSU. They play a close-by road game Wednesday against George Mason.
9. Iona (4-2). Last week: 7
Iona set a school record by scoring 126 points against Delaware State. The Gaels took a trip Sunday to Arkansas. They gave a good fight but lost 94-77.
10. Wofford (5-2). Last week: 6
Wofford’s five-game winning streak ended Saturday with a loss at William & Mary. The Terriers have an easy week coming with home games against Presbyterian and non-Division I opponent Florida International.
11. Louisiana Tech (5-1). Last week: 10
Louisiana Tech swept its four-game homestand and should be favored in both of its games this week against Northwestern State and Jackson State.
12. Georgia State (5-2). Last week: 11
Georgia State survived a pair of close games last week against Oakland and IUPUI. The Panthers return home Thursday but face a tough opponent in Green Bay.
13. UC Irvine (3-2). Last week: 13
UC Irvine ended a two-game slide with a win at Loyola Marymount. The Anteaters end a four-game road trip Wednesday at Fresno State.
14. Stephen F. Austin (3-3). Last week: 14
Stephen F. Austin got off to a rough start against a tough schedule. But the Lumberjacks took advantage of easier opponents Prairie View A&M and Austin Peay to pull back to .500.
15. Green Bay (4-1). Last week: 15
Green Bay defeated East Carolina, Evansville and Florida Gulf Coast to win the Gulf Coast Showcase. The Phoenix have their hands full again this week with games at Georgia State and Miami (Fla.).
16. Florida Gulf Coast (6-1). Last week: 17
Florida Gulf Coast finished second at the Gulf Coast Showcase with a loss to Green Bay in the finals. The Eagles bounced back with a win against South Dakota State on Sunday.
17. Belmont (6-1). Last week: Unranked
Belmont returns to the Mid-Major Rankings riding a six-game winning streak. They host Middle Tennessee in their only game this week.
18. Northeastern (5-1). Last week: 18
Northeastern picked up its first loss of the season at UMass but bounced back with a win against Fairfield. The Huskies play at Harvard on Wednesday.
19. Yale (6-2). Last week: 22
Yale lost a close game to a very good Providence team and then defeated America East contender Hartford. The Bulldogs have a tough road stretch coming up where they play games against Connecticut and Florida.
20. Evansville (4-1). Last week: 20
After losing a close game to Green Bay in the Gulf Coast Showcase semifinals, Evansville bounced back to beat San Francisco and finish third at the tournament. The Aces are home this week against Wright State and IUPUI.
21. Valparaiso (7-1). Last week: Unranked
Valparaiso dominated the Challenge in Music City last week with wins against Drake, Murray State and Portland. The Crusaders’ average margin of victory at the tournament was 23.3 points.
22. Akron (4-2). Last week: 19
Akron lost at Penn State but knocked off Bryant but returned home Sunday to defeat Bryant. The Zips continue a relatively easy home stand this week against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Western Illinois.
23. New Mexico State (3-4). Last week: 21
New Mexico State continues to struggle with its tough schedule. Although the Aggies beat Stetson and Florida A&M last week, they lost a close game to Wyoming. They have lost all four games they have played against good teams.
24. Holy Cross (3-1). Last week: 24
Holy Cross’ first loss of the season came Friday at Syracuse. The Crusaders remain on the road this week against Albany and Sacred Heart.
25. Eastern Washington (6-1). Last week: Unranked
Eastern Washington made a splash with its win at Indiana. The Eagles also played a close game at Southern Methodist before that.
