DePaul snapped a three-game losing streak Monday, finishing its weekend at the Paradise Jam with an 82-78 victory against Norfolk State. The Blue Demons’ win earned them a seventh-place finish after losses to South Carolina and Florida State dropped them into the loser’s end of the loser’s bracket.
Junior guard Billy Garrett Jr. had a standout performance against Norfolk State with 22 points, seven assists and no turnovers. Junior center Tommy Hamilton IV also notched 20 points on perfect 8-of-8 shooting, including a pair of 3-pointers.
Following the mediocre performance in the Virgin Islands, DePaul has dropped to No. 146 in Kenpom rankings and No. 218 in defensive efficiency.
The Blue Demons have a holiday break coming up and return to action Dec. 2 at UIC.
