Freshman of the Week

Dikembe Dixson, UIC

Dixson gets his second award in as many weeks after averaging 9.0 points and 10.5 rebounds in UIC’s two games last week. The 6-foot-7 forward has continued to struggle from the field at 32.5 percent on the year, but he has been the Flames’ second-leading scorer with 10.5 points per contest.

Team of the Week

Northwestern

The Wildcats managed to not get completely blown out of the water by North Carolina. They came back the next day to beat Missouri, and then demolished New Orleans over the weekend.

Northwestern is the only local team with fewer than three losses.

Game of the Week

Illinois 82, Chicago State 79

Chicago State took Illinois to the wire last Monday. The Cougars led by 14 points with fewer than 11 minutes remaining, but they lost at the buzzer when Illini freshman Jalen Coleman-Lands drilled a corner 3-pointer.
