It’s time for the weekly Chicago awards. Every week, The Catch and Shoot will name a Player of the Week, Freshman of the Week, Team of the Week, and Game of the Week from the six schools in the Greater Chicago Area: DePaul, Northwestern, UIC, Loyola, Chicago State and Valparaiso.
Here are the awards for the past week.
Player of the Week
Valparaiso played only game this week, and the Crusaders won thanks to a great performance from sophomore forward Alec Peters. Peters posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds to go along with a pair of steals. He shoot 7-of-14 from the field, including a pair of 3-pointers.

Freshman of the Week
Northwestern wing Vic Law had a breakout week.
First, Law posted 9 points, which come on three consecutive 3-pointers in the second half, in a win at Minnesota. Then he recorded his first career double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds in a win against Penn State.
Law made three 3-pointers in that game that as well.
Honorable mention: Bryant McIntosh, Northwestern
Team of the Week
After losing 10 games in a row, now Northwestern has won three straight.
Last week, the Wildcats exploded for 15 triples in a 72-66 win at Minnesota. Then they came back home and blew away Penn State, 60-39.
Northwestern was in danger of finishing in last place in the Big Ten a few games ago. Now the Wildcats are knocking on the door of a first round bye in the Big Ten Tournament.
Game of the Week
DePaul came oh so close to ending its losing streak Saturday at Georgetown. The Blue Demons cut an 11-point deficit in the second half down to two points in the final minute, but they could not get over the hump in a 68-63 defeat.
