NCAA Tournament Bubble: More Fun With Blind Résumés

Here’s another opportunity to play the “I’m on the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee” game.

Below are two pairs of résumés.

The first pair, Team A and Team B, consists of two bubble teams whose postseason fates are still up in the air.

The second pair, Team C and Team D, consists of two teams that are locks for the NCAA tournament but are now fighting for a spot as one of the four No. 1 seeds.

Your job is to decide which teams is more deserving of an at-large bid/a No. 1 seed.

(Remember, the point of looking at these blind résumés is not to guess which teams they belong to. You are trying to evaluate which team should be viewed more favorably in the eyes of the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee.)

Team A

Overall record: 17-11

Record vs. RPI Top 25: 3-1

Record vs. RPI Top 50: 4-6

Record vs. RPI Top 100: 6-9

Sub-100 Losses: 2

Record in road/neutral games: 7-7

Team B

  1. What’s interesting is that Florida and Georgetown should have played each other in the beginning of the season before the game was called. That game would have been important in deciding between these two for a possible No. 1 seed.
