Loyola received a commitment Thursday from 2015 forward Pernell Adgei, his coach told The Catch and Shoot. Pernell, who is taking a postgrad year at Fishburne Military School (Va.), joins standout guard Roosevelt Smart and junior college center Maurice Kirby in coach Porter Moser‘s recruiting class.
“Pernell is a very good mid-range shooter, and he’s extremely physical,” Fishburne coach Ed Huckaby said. “He can rebound, and he’s highly intelligent. He has to work on some other things, but he’s going to be an effective player at the next level.”
Here is a video of Adgei from high school, displaying some of the athleticism he can bring to the Ramblers. (Adgei used to go Pernell Benson.)
Pernell is a player who fell through the cracks, according to a Phenom Hoop Report article, and if true he could be a good get for the Ramblers. The article had this to say about Adgei’s game:
“(Adgei) is a physical developed, explosive forward who loves to do the dirty work. He thrives crashing the boards, where he snatches the ball at its highest point, with two hands. On defense, he is able to use his quickness to play on the wing or utilize his strength and explosion to defend the post. Adgei, runs the floor with a purpose, and that purpose is typically to finish with a ferocious dunk.”
